Patricia MacLachlan
Patricia MacLachlan (née Pritzkau) was an acclaimed American children's author born in Cheyenne, Wyoming, best known for her Newbery Medal-winning novel Sarah, Plain and Tall (1985). She authored over 60 books, including picture books and novels for young readers, often exploring family and everyday life, and collaborated with her daughter on several titles. MacLachlan received the National Humanities Medal in 2002 and taught children's literature at Smith College before her death in 2022.
