Edward P. Jones is an acclaimed American novelist and short story writer born on October 5, 1950, in Washington, D.C., known for depicting the African-American experience and the effects of slavery. He received the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction and the International Dublin Literary Award for his novel The Known World, and has also been honored with a MacArthur Fellowship and the PEN/Malamud Award.
