P. Jeffery
Peter Jeffery is an American musicologist specializing in medieval Latin liturgy, Gregorian chant, and early Christian and Jewish music traditions from Roman, Byzantine, Coptic, and Ethiopian sources. He held academic positions at the University of Delaware, Harvard, Princeton (where he is Scheide Professor of Music History Emeritus), and the University of Notre Dame (Michael P. Grace II Professor of Medieval Studies Emeritus). A MacArthur Fellow (1987), Guggenheim recipient, and 2023 Fellow of the Medieval Academy of America, he has authored over 100 articles and books on music history.
