Osamu Tezuka
Osamu Tezuka was a pioneering Japanese manga artist, animator, and cartoonist, known as the 'God of Manga' and 'Father of Anime' for revolutionizing the industry with works like Astro Boy, Kimba the White Lion, and Black Jack.[1][2][4] Born in 1928 in Toyonaka City, Osaka, he began publishing professionally after World War II, creating over 150,000 manga pages and founding Mushi Production to produce the first Japanese TV anime series.[2][5] He died in 1989 from stomach cancer after a prolific career shaping postwar Japanese culture and influencing global anime and manga.[3][6]
