Orson F. 1855-1931 Whitney
Orson Ferguson Whitney (1855-1931) was a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from 1906 until his death. He was a multifaceted intellectual who served as a politician, journalist, poet, historian, and academic, and was instrumental in founding the Wasatch Literary Society. Whitney began his career in writing at the Deseret News in 1878 and later served in various civic positions including Salt Lake City Council, City Treasurer, and State Senator.
