Orrin Smith

John Orrin Smith (1799-1843) was a British wood engraver born in Colchester who moved to London around 1818. After brief training as an architect, he inherited money upon coming of age in 1821 and became a part-proprietor of the weekly newspaper 'The Sunday Monitor', where Douglas Jerrold worked as a compositor.
