O Henry

O. Henry was the pen name of William Sydney Porter (1862–1910), an American short story writer celebrated for his wit, warm portraits of ordinary people, and surprise endings. Born in Greensboro, North Carolina, he worked in several jobs before turning to fiction after a prison sentence, and he became one of the most widely read and anthologized short-story authors in American literature.
