Norman MacCAIG
Norman Alexander MacCaig (14 November 1910 – 23 January 1996) was a prominent Scottish poet and teacher, widely regarded as one of the most important Scottish poets of the 20th century[1][2]. His poetry, written in modern English, is celebrated for its humour, simplicity of language, and rich philosophical descriptions of landscape and nature[1][8]. He received numerous accolades including the Queen's Gold Medal for Poetry and was appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE)[4][8].
