Norman Bridwell
Norman Ray Bridwell was an American author and illustrator best known for creating the Clifford the Big Red Dog children's book series, which began with the 1963 publication after an editor suggested he write his own story based on a drawing of a big red dog.[2][7] Born in Kokomo, Indiana, he studied art at the John Herron Art Institute and Cooper Union before working as a commercial artist and freelance illustrator.[1][7] The series sold over 60 million copies worldwide, spawning translations, merchandise, and adaptations.[3][4]
