Noel Burch

Noël Burch is a Franco-American film theorist, critic, and filmmaker born in San Francisco in 1932. He is known for influential writings such as *Theory of Film Practice* and for coining or popularizing concepts used in film studies, including the institutional mode of representation. He has lived in France since 1951 and has also directed and produced films.[1][4][8]
