Nikki Grimes
Nikki Grimes is an American author, poet, and journalist born in Harlem, New York, in 1950, who began writing poetry at age six and gave her first public reading at 13. She earned a BA in English and African languages from Rutgers University, lived in Sweden, and has authored over 100 books for children and young adults, often exploring the African American experience. Her works, including Bronx Masquerade, have earned awards like the Coretta Scott King Author Award and the Virginia Hamilton Lifetime Achievement Award.
