Nicolaus Copernicus
Nicolaus Copernicus was a Renaissance polymath and Polish astronomer who formulated the heliocentric model of the universe, placing the Sun at its center rather than Earth. His seminal work, *De revolutionibus orbium coelestium*, published just before his death in 1543, sparked the Copernican Revolution and contributed to the Scientific Revolution. He studied canon law, mathematics, and astronomy in various European universities while serving as a canon in Frombork, Poland.[1][2][4]
