New Jerusalem Church General Convention

The General Convention of the New Jerusalem in the United States of America, also known as the Swedenborgian Church of North America, is a Christian denomination founded on the theological writings of Emanuel Swedenborg. It began in the United States in 1792 when members migrated from England to Baltimore, Maryland, forming the first society, with formal organization as a convention established soon after in Philadelphia. In 1890, due to doctrinal disagreements, a more conservative group split off to form the General Church of the New Jerusalem.
