Nelson Mandela
Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela was a South African anti-apartheid revolutionary, political leader, and philanthropist who became the first black president of South Africa, serving from 1994 to 1999. He spent 27 years in prison for his activism against racial segregation before leading the nation's transition to a multiracial democracy and sharing the 1993 Nobel Peace Prize with F.W. de Klerk.
