National Collegiate Athletic Association

The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) is a nonprofit organization founded in 1906 as the Intercollegiate Athletic Association of the United States (IAAUS) to address safety concerns in college football and regulate intercollegiate athletics. It adopted its current name in 1910 and is headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana, overseeing competitions for over 1,000 member institutions and approximately 500,000 student-athletes across 24 sports in three divisions.
