Nathanael West

Nathanael West (born Nathan Weinstein) was an influential American writer and screenwriter known for his darkly satirical and surrealist novels that critically examined American society and the disillusionment of the American Dream during the 1930s. His most celebrated works include 'Miss Lonelyhearts' and 'The Day of the Locust,' which remain enduring classics of postwar American fiction and black humor. West tragically died at age 37 in a car accident near El Centro, California, while returning from a hunting trip in Mexico.
