Nancy Kelly Allen
Nancy Kelly Allen, born January 9, 1949, in Knott County, Kentucky, is a children's book author who began her career as a social worker, taught social studies, and later worked as an elementary school librarian in Hazard, KY. She holds degrees from Cumberland College (B.A., 1970), Morehead State University (M.Ed., 1980), and University of Kentucky (M.L.S., 1986), and has received awards including the Appalachian Writers Award for Children's Literature in 2005 for 'On the Banks of the Amazon'. A Kentucky native, she enjoys gardening and crafts.
