Moritz Thomsen

Moritz Thomsen (1915–1991) was an American writer, farmer, and Peace Corps volunteer known for his memoirs about poverty and life in Ecuador. He joined the Peace Corps at age 48 in 1964 and spent years in the small town of Rio Verde, Ecuador, where he wrote four published books praised by notable authors including Paul Theroux and Larry McMurtry. He also served as a B-17 bombardier in World War II before his later career as a writer and farmer.
