Miriam Weiner is an American genealogist, author, and lecturer renowned for pioneering research on Jewish roots in Poland and the former Soviet Union, including opening archives behind the Iron Curtain.[1][2] She founded Routes to Roots in 1990, offering archival research and customized ancestral tours, and created the Eastern European Archival Database; she authored key books like Jewish Roots in Poland and Jewish Roots in Ukraine and Moldova.[1][3][4] The first Jewish genealogist certified by the Board for Certification of Genealogists in 1985, she received awards including the Lifetime Achievement Award from the International Association of Jewish Genealogical Societies in 2003.[3][4]
