Mikhail Bulgakov
Mikhail Bulgakov (1891–1940) was a Russian and Soviet novelist and playwright best known for his satirical works and his masterpiece The Master and Margarita, published posthumously. He initially pursued medicine before abandoning it in 1920 to become a writer, facing decades of censorship under Soviet rule that prevented publication of most of his works during his lifetime.
