Michèle Lamont
Michèle Lamont is a Professor of Sociology and of African and African American Studies at Harvard University, holding the Robert I. Goldman Chair of European Studies. Born in Toronto in 1957 and raised in Quebec, she is an influential cultural sociologist who studies inequality, social worth, racism, and how societies evaluate excellence across different domains. She earned her Ph.D. in sociology from the Université de Paris in 1983 and has been a pioneer in defining cultural and comparative sociology as academic fields.
