Michael Wilson was an influential American screenwriter active from the 1940s to the mid-1960s, known for films like 'The Bridge on the River Kwai,' 'Lawrence of Arabia,' and 'Planet of the Apes,' despite being blacklisted during the McCarthy era. He began in literature, moved to Hollywood in 1940, and continued working with blacklisted peers on acclaimed projects like 'Salt of the Earth.' In 1985, he received posthumous Academy Awards for 'The Bridge on the River Kwai.'
