Michael Morpurgo
Sir Michael Morpurgo is an acclaimed English children's author, poet, playwright, and librettist, best known for novels like War Horse, Private Peaceful, and Why the Whales Came, which often feature themes of survival, nature, and war.[1][2] Born in 1943, he studied English and French at King's College London, taught for many years, and co-founded the Farms for City Children charity in 1976 with his wife Clare to give urban children farm experiences.[2][3] He served as Children's Laureate from 2003 to 2005, received an OBE in 2006, and was knighted in 2018.[1][2]
