Michael Legrand
Michel Legrand was a French musical composer, arranger, conductor, jazz pianist, and singer, renowned for his prolific output of over 200 film and television scores. He gained international fame with scores for Jacques Demy's films The Umbrellas of Cherbourg (1964) and The Young Girls of Rochefort (1967), and won three Academy Awards for The Thomas Crown Affair (1968), Summer of '42 (1971), and Yentl (1983). A piano prodigy who studied at the Paris Conservatory, he also released successful albums like I Love Paris and collaborated with artists such as Barbra Streisand and Miles Davis.
