Michael J. Benton

Michael J. Benton is a British palaeontologist and professor of vertebrate palaeontology at the University of Bristol who has made fundamental contributions to understanding the history of life, particularly biodiversity changes through time. His research focuses on the evolution of Triassic reptiles, mass extinctions, and the diversification of major groups such as dinosaurs, birds, and mammals. He was elected Fellow of the Royal Society in 2014 and has authored approximately 400 scientific papers and over 50 books on palaeontological topics.
