Michael Ivanovitch Rostovtzeff

Michael Ivanovitch Rostovtzeff was a Russian-born historian and archaeologist who became one of the 20th century’s leading authorities on ancient Greek and Roman history, especially its economic and social dimensions. He later worked in the United States, including at Yale University, and is also known for major studies of the Roman Empire and the ancient world.
