Meg McKinlay

Meg McKinlay is an Australian children's writer and poet based in Fremantle, Western Australia, known for her quirky books ranging from picture books to young adult fiction, including the Prime Minister's Literary Award winners *A Single Stone* and *How to Make a Bird*.[1][3][4] Raised in a book-loving, TV- and car-free household in central Victoria, such as Bendigo, she developed a passion for words through roaming the bush and engaging with dictionaries and spelling bees.[2][3] She has also published poetry for adults, like *Cleanskin*, and has won multiple awards including three Crystal Kite Awards.[1][3]
