He served in two navies and two air forces during World War II, drawing on these experiences for his war novels blending realism, conflict, and adventure. Hennessy also wrote crime fiction, thrillers, and mysteries, with his first novel under this pseudonym, 'The Lion at Sea,' published in 1977.
