Maurice Warwick Beresford

Maurice Warwick Beresford (1920-2005) was a prominent English economic historian, landscape and urban historian, and archaeologist, renowned for his pioneering work on deserted medieval villages, the medieval landscape, and new towns of the Middle Ages.[1][2][5] He served as Professor of Economic History at the University of Leeds from 1959 to 1985, having previously been a lecturer and reader there, and was elected a Fellow of the British Academy in 1985.[1][2] Beresford authored influential books such as 'The Lost Villages of England' and advanced the field of landscape history.[4][5]
