Maurice Nassan
Maurice of Nassau, also known as Maurice, Prince of Orange (Dutch: Maurits van Oranje), was a Dutch military leader and statesman who served as stadtholder of the provinces of the Dutch Republic from 1585 until his death in 1625, succeeding his father William the Silent.[1][2] He reorganized the Dutch States Army, revolutionizing military tactics and engineering to make it the most modern in Europe, playing a key role in the Dutch Revolt against Spanish rule during the Eighty Years' War.[1][2] Maurice died during the Siege of Breda, which concluded after his passing.[1]
