Matthew Paris
Matthew Paris (c. 1200 – 1259), also known as Matthew of Paris, was an English Benedictine monk, chronicler, artist in illuminated manuscripts, and cartographer based at St Albans Abbey in Hertfordshire. He is renowned for his voluminous and detailed writings, particularly the *Chronica Majora*, which serve as a major source of knowledge for events in Europe between 1235 and 1259.
