Matthew Engel
Matthew Lewis Engel is a British journalist, author, and editor born in Northampton, England, in 1951, known for his long career with The Guardian and as editor of Wisden Cricketers' Almanack for twelve years. He has written acclaimed books on British newspapers, railways, cricket, and the English language, including Tickle the Public, Eleven Minutes Late, and Engel’s England. Engel lives in Herefordshire with his wife Hilary and daughter Vika, and co-founded the Teenage Cancer Trust Laurie Engel Fund in memory of their son who died in 2005.
