Matthew Arnold
Matthew Arnold (1822–1888) was an English Victorian poet and cultural critic known for works such as "Dover Beach" and his influential criticism of society and culture. He also served as an inspector of schools and later turned much of his attention to prose essays, including "Culture and Anarchy," which helped establish his reputation as one of the era’s major public intellectuals.
