Mathew Carey Lea
Mathew Carey Lea (1823–1897) was an American chemist and pioneer of photographic chemistry, renowned for his foundational work in mechanochemistry and the development of Carey Lea Silver. He published over one hundred peer-reviewed research papers and is often cited as the 'Father of Mechanochemistry' for demonstrating that mechanical action can induce chemical changes distinct from those produced by heat.
