Mary Pope Osborne (born May 20, 1949) is an American author of children's books and audiobook narrator, best known for creating the Magic Tree House series, which has sold over 134 million copies worldwide.[2] An ardent advocate for children's literacy, she has written over 100 books across multiple genres including novels, mysteries, biographies, and folklore retellings, and has placed over 1.2 million books in underserved schools through her Gift of Books Program.[1]
