Mary Norwak
Mary Norwak (1929-2010) was an English cookery writer born Mary Stock in London, who published over 100 cookery books and contributed to national newspapers and magazines. A self-taught cook who described herself as 'a writer who cooks,' she combined her interest in food with the social history of cooking, trawling bookshops for forgotten recipes to preserve traditional dishes. Her best-known work, *English Puddings: Sweet and Savoury* (1981), became an instant classic.
