Mary Kelly (1927-2017) was an English crime writer best known for the Inspector Brett Nightingale series. Her mysteries, including *The Spoilt Kill*, were noted for their dark suspense, industrial settings, and psychological depth, and *The Spoilt Kill* won the Gold Dagger Award.
