Mary Kaldor

Mary Henrietta Kaldor is a British academic and Professor of Global Governance at the London School of Economics, where she directs the Civil Society and Human Security Research Unit. She is a key figure in developing cosmopolitan democracy and has pioneered the concepts of 'new wars' and global civil society. Her work spans globalisation, international relations, humanitarian intervention, and global governance, informed by her activism in the peace movement and involvement with civil society organizations.
