Mary Howitt
Mary Howitt (née Botham, 1799–1888) was an English poet, author, translator, and pioneer of women's rights, best known for her poem 'The Spider and the Fly' and translations of Hans Christian Andersen and Fredrika Bremer. Born into a Quaker family in Gloucestershire, she married writer William Howitt in 1821 and collaborated with him on numerous works, including poetry, novels, and children's literature aimed at moral education.[1][2][3]
