Mary Elizabeth Williams

Mary Elizabeth Williams is an American writer and commentator, formerly a staff writer for Salon, who has contributed to The New York Times, The Nation, and others, and appeared on MSNBC, Today, and NBC Nightly News. She authored the memoir Gimme Shelter in 2009 and A Series of Catastrophes and Miracles, detailing her cancer experience, in 2016. She grew up in Jersey City, New Jersey, and has described herself as an ex-Catholic.[1]
