Mary E. Williams (Editor)

Mary Elizabeth Williams is an American writer, journalist, and cancer survivor known for her memoirs 'Gimme Shelter' (2009) and 'A Series of Catastrophes and Miracles' (2016), which chronicles her stage IV melanoma diagnosis and successful participation in a groundbreaking immunotherapy clinical trial at Memorial Sloan Kettering in 2011. A former staff writer for Salon, she has contributed to The New York Times, The Guardian, and others, and now serves as a doctoral student in Medical Humanities at Drew University while speaking and consulting on patient advocacy, healthcare communication, and clinical trials. She remains in remission and is active on patient advisory boards.
