Martin Polley
Martin Polley is a British sports historian who earned his first-class degree in History in 1987 and PhD in 1991 from St David's University College, Lampeter, University of Wales.[1][2] He worked as a part-time tutor at Lampeter, then at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, and served as a lecturer at King Alfred’s from 1992 to 2001 before becoming Senior Lecturer in Sport Studies at University of Southampton.[1] His research focuses on modern British and international history, particularly sports history, with key publications including 'Moving the Goalposts: A History of Sport & Society Since 1945' (1998) and 'Sports History: A Practical Guide' (2006).[1][5][6]
