Dr. Martha Taylor Sarno was an internationally recognized pioneer in the field of communication disorders, particularly aphasia, whose work revolutionized treatment and understanding of the condition following stroke or brain injury. She founded the National Aphasia Association (NAA) in 1987 to advocate for people with aphasia and their families, serving as its first president and authoring over 75 articles and several books on the subject.
