Marshall W. "Major" Taylor

Marshall W. "Major" Taylor was an American professional cyclist and one of the first Black sports superstars, known for breaking racial barriers in cycling and becoming the 1899 world one-mile sprint champion. Born in Indiana, he rose from humble beginnings to international fame, won numerous records and titles, and later chronicled his life in his 1928 autobiography, *The Fastest Bicycle Rider in the World*.
