Marlene Dumas

Marlene Dumas is a South African-born artist and painter known for figurative paintings and drawings that explore identity, emotion, race, gender, and social issues. Born in 1953, she studied at the University of Cape Town and later at Ateliers '63 in the Netherlands, where she has lived and worked since the mid-1970s.
