Mark C Baker

Mark C. Baker is a Distinguished Professor of Linguistics and Cognitive Science at Rutgers University who received his Ph.D. in Linguistics from MIT in 1985. He specializes in the syntax and morphology of less-studied languages from the Americas, Africa, and Asia, combining generative-style theories with fieldwork data and typological comparison. He has authored five research monographs and one popular book, The Atoms of Language (2001).
