Marie Corelli
Marie Corelli, born Mary Mackay in London around 1855, was a best-selling English novelist known for her romantic melodramatic works that often blended Gothic, fantasy, and spiritualist themes. Despite mixed critical reception, she achieved immense public popularity in late-19th-century England, selling more books than contemporaries like Arthur Conan Doyle and H.G. Wells, and remained a celebrated figure until her death in 1924.
