Margret Rey
Margret Rey, born Margarete Waldstein in Hamburg, Germany, was a German-American writer and illustrator best known for co-creating the Curious George series with her husband H.A. Rey. She studied art at the Bauhaus, worked in advertising in Rio de Janeiro after marrying Hans in the 1930s, and fled Nazi-occupied France in 1940 on bicycles, eventually settling in the United States where they published their famous children's books. After H.A.'s death in 1977, she continued managing Curious George's legacy and founded the Curious George Foundation to support children and animals.
