Margaret Bond

Margaret Bonds was an American composer, pianist, arranger, and conductor known for blending classical music with African American spirituals and themes from Black life and culture. Born in Chicago, she became one of the first African American women to achieve wide recognition as a composer and was a notable figure in 20th-century American music.
