Margaret Benson

Margaret Benson (16 June 1865 – 13 May 1916) was an English author and Egyptologist best known for excavating the Precinct of Mut, a temple compound on the east bank of the Nile in Egypt[2][10]. She was the daughter of Edward White Benson, Archbishop of Canterbury, and became the first woman granted permission to lead her own archaeological excavation in Egypt under a concession from the Egyptian Department of Antiquities[4][7].
